Over the past few weeks I’ve been kept really busy over at Carleton Ladies Choir with working on their Summer Season of Music and Poetry. Right now we’re right in the middle of a series of performances recorded by the choir members and their friends. So far there have been songs arranged in all different ways and poems read and/or written by CLC singers. And, the season is due to go on for another few weeks. We can look forward to some piano duets, more songs (among others, some Billie Eilish, John Denver and some musical theatre), an electric guitar solo and, of course, more poetry. To see all the performances so far head over to my other blog post HERE. And, keep checking back because that page will be updated every few days with more videos until the season ends with a choir collage song that’s been weeks in the making.
I’ve also been giving some thought over these weeks about what my service is going to look like in the coming months. As most of you know, I’m hoping to return to some face-to-face lessons at my home studio from September, depending on how things have developed with the virus by then. Even if everything goes well, this will mean some changes to the normal way that I do things. For a start, if you like Zoom and would prefer to continue having your lessons over a video link then that’s fine and I will continue to offer that service in the long term. But, I also have a responsibility to keep my students and their families safe if they choose to visit me for their lessons. With this in mind, I will be putting out a little hand sanitising station, keeping my room well ventilated, spacing my lessons out so that I have time to anti-bac wipe instruments / door handles etc, and asking that students make sure that they don’t arrive early for their lessons. Of course, I’ll put all this out in a clear format ahead of the start of in-person lessons, but I wanted to give you all a heads up about my plans.
