Easter holidays I shall be taking the whole of the school Easter holidays off to spend some quality time with my son. Following this week’s announcement from the government, I will be able to start accepting students back into my music room here in Skipton from Tuesday 13th April. My service falls under ‘close-contact’ along with businesses such as hairdressers. Within hours of the beginning of the first lockdown, music teachers up and down the country collectively came to realise something important about video conferencing technology: that there’s a delay / latency over the line that makes playing music live over Zoom, Microsoft Team, Skype etc pretty much impossible. Most of my students are now planning to return to face to face lessons, and these will begin on 8th September, all being well.
