Those of you who have had lessons recently will notice that my music room has had a bit of a makeover; I have covered one of the walls in signs that are a summary of my philosophy about learning (yes, music, but also in general) and about how to live a healthy, happy and balanced life.
I think one of the most important signs up there is this one: ENJOY EVERY LESSON. It reminds us of why we’re pursuing music lessons: for fun. And, by extension, encourages everyone to think about how to get the most out of today’s music session, and to focus on the positives, even if (maybe especially if) that piece you’ve been practising didn’t come across quite right this time, or you fluffed the notes of your scales or arpeggios. The point of coming to music lessons isn’t to present perfection to your teacher, but to work together on creating something really good, and enjoying every minute of that process. In short: don’t take lessons too seriously!
So, onto the week’s free sessions. Well, it’s another busy one this week, but there are a couple of available spaces should you want to book in:
