As we approach the end of 2023, I just wanted to send you a quick message to say a big thank you for choosing me as your music teacher this year. It’s been a really busy 12 months not least because I moved house over summer. I’ve appreciated how everyone has adapted to my new location, rearranging schedules and figuring out how to get kids up to this end of Skipton – thank you!
We’ve had lots of success over the past year too, with quite a few people sitting their graded exams. I’ve been proud to support young pianists over the last few months from Grade 1 through to Grade 6 with 100% pass rate. Well done to all those students who worked so hard to achieve their grades! It’s also been nice to help lots of people begin their musical journey this year – I’ve had new singers, uke players, bassists and classical guitar players who will hopefully go on to enjoy a lifetime of pleasure from music making.
Of course, music can be very sociable too. In September I started a new mixed voice choir – Sing Out South Craven – who meet each Wednesday evening at Glusburn Institute. It’s proving to be very popular, but there still are a few available spaces. So if you’d like to kick off 2024 with a new musical hobby while mixing with like-minded people just let me know and we’ll arrange for you to come along and try us out.
I also aim to bring back the Band Sessions for adults in 2024. Last year we got little groups of people together in a morning or afternoon to learn and record songs, and we got through an eclectic mix of music from George Ezra to The Eagles and everything in-between. So, again, if you’d be interested in doing something similar next year just drop me a WhatsApp about it!
Finally, a reminder that I will be finishing teaching for Christmas next Friday (22nd December) and will resume lessons on Wednesday 3rd January. For some reason, my service is always busiest shortly after the school holidays finish, so I would advise you to get your January lessons booked in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment:
